Korvosa Staffords

Questions? We have Answers!
Do I have to fill out an application to purchase a puppy?
Yes! Please submit a completed application online. Keep in mind that submitting an application is only the first step in the process and is not confirmation that you are on the wait list for a puppy. We will want to connect with you to first, and also need to make sure we have a puppy suitable for your family.
Do you recommend any other breeders?
Absolutely. I recommend breeders who I know health test, do not breed blues, and title their dogs, focusing on temperament, structure and health. In BC, I only recommend RiiseStaff, Rustik Staffords and Distaff Staffords. If you are considering dogs in other provinces, please contacts me and I will happily help you connect with other Canadian breeders.
Do you sell blue puppies?
We will never breed for the purpose of producing blue puppies. Unfortunately, backyard breeders have misled many people into believing that blue is a rare or highly desirable colour.
Decades of poor breeding practices among those producing blues have resulted in a higher incidence of health concerns such as Colour Dilute Alopecia (CDA) and allergies. These breeders also rarely perform essential health testing and seldom prove their breeding stock through shows or trials. In some cases, they market their dogs as “imported” to appear more credible, but importing alone does not equate to quality or good ethics.
Reputable kennels do not purposely produce blue puppies, and responsible breeders avoid blue-to-blue pairings entirely. Blues come with hereditary faults within the breed that are associated with the dilute coat. In our opinion, breeding for blues does not fall in line with preserving the integrity and well-being of the breed. If you truly value the breed, it is important not to support breeders who engage in poor breeding practices.

That said, blue is a naturally occurring colour. In pedigrees free of blue-to-blue pairings and with a strong history of sound breeding, a blue puppy may occasionally appear in a well-bred litter without the associated health risks mentioned above.
Do you Ship Puppies?
You will have to pick up the puppy yourself as the puppy would be too young to fly alone for our comfort, plus, we want to see you too!
I just want a pet, not a show/sports dog.
Fabulous! Ours dogs are wonderful family pets first and foremost! You will not move up or down on a wait list just because you do/dont want to show or trial. But if you ever want to give it a try, we are happy to help!
What type of relationship can I expect from you, as a breeder?
As a responsible breeder, it is our job to support and mentor all puppy owners, including in emergencies. Call us day or night; if we aren't available we will get back to you as soon as we can. Furthermore, if, for any reason you cannot keep your Korvosa puppy/dog, it should come back to us. We do not want our dogs being passed from home to home, or ending up in a shelter. On that note, all Korvosa puppies will have us down as a secondary contact on their microchip as a back up.
I want to try showing and/or trialing, but I don't know where to start!
Don't you worry! We are more than happy to help you learn the ropes of dogs sports and shows! We have met many wonderful friends by showing and trialing, the community on the island is truly amazing. You would be welcomed with open arms.
Are puppies registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC)?
Yes! All puppies will be registered with the Canadian Kennel Club and will be sold on Limited Registration and a contract, unless otherwise agreed upon.
Can I meet your dogs?
Absolutely! We are happy to meet with you whether you are considering a Stafford from us or not.
Can I purchase two puppies from the same litter?
Littermate syndrome develops when two puppies from the same litter, or two puppies close in age, are raised together. So what is Littermate Syndrome? It includes multiple types of unwanted behaviours, including a dependency on each other, difficulty bonding with humans and other animals, aggression, separation anxiety, and reduced independence in training. As we want the best for our puppies, we will not put two from the same litter, in the same home.
Can I pick my puppy?
As our puppies are temperament tested, and we have known the puppies' for their whole life, they will be placed with the family that is most suitable for them. You will not be picking your puppy, but of course, if you decide the puppy we pick isn't suitable for you, no hard feelings but we will go our separate ways.
